Having nothing to write about, I think I should use of this blog as a diary. At the moment, I weigh 96 Kg. My height is 180 centimeters. I am beginning to take the shape of a hippo. With little or no exercise at my end, I might be headed for heart troubles before this decade of my life ends. So I decided to do the following:

  • Maintain a food diary. A food diary is a record that shows how many calories you’ve had in a day.
  • Find out how many calories I need in a day, from this site. From what it says, I should begin with something around 1800 calories a day.
  • Find out which food contains how many calories. Here and here.
  • Exercise. I shall begin with 2-3 times a week, and progress to as much as I can manage without feeling over-disciplined. I have decided to jog or swim.
  • Not be diet fanatic. I don’t want to be unhappy about what I’m eating.
  • Zig-Zag my calorie intake, but keep the week’s total constant. That means, I might have 1900 calories one day, and 1700 on another.
Starting from this, I shall keep posting my state regularly. Within a month or so, I plan to regularise my non-vegetarian intake, as it accounts for a lot of calories for a little weight, and has notoriously slow metabolism rates. I have no intentions of turning vegetarian. If you also want to lose weight, you can comment about this post with ideas of your own, or you can set up your own blog, any way you wish.
